If you are one of the girls who put on makeup every day, you probably sometimes spend more than 10 minutes doing it, right? However, for different reasons, many women miss removing their makeup after a long day at work or after returning from a party. Although it may not seem like it, removing makeup correctly is one of the most important steps to show off beautiful and fresh skin, cataloging it as one of the most important beauty rituals for a woman, for this reason, at the end of the day it is necessary that you remove makeup correctly, as the years go by, your skin will thank you.

I already know that you will tell me “I come back exhausted and all I want is to sleep” or “I bathe before going to sleep and that’s enough” or the classic “but I don’t even put on makeup.” Badly done! I wish all that was enough, but it is definitely better to take 5 minutes to remove all the impurities from your skin than to affect your health due to these bad habits.

We know well that modern makeup contains a series of chemicals and compounds that help take care of our skin, enriched with moisturizers for facial care and even elements that protect the skin from the sun, however, despite all these wonders, it is necessary to remove everything. that chemical that you have on your face for hours, in addition to eliminating all the dead cells left by our daily makeup, the excess oil that our skin generates, the dust, pollution or pollution to which we are exposed all day, being a counterproductive factor for the vitality of the face. Cleansing our face properly and removing makeup is necessary to give our skin a break and prevent the appearance of imperfections such as pimples, pimples or wrinkles. Leaving eye makeup on also causes its own set of problems, including eye infections, eye irritation, styes, and broken eyelashes.

Using the correct products according to your skin type or area to be cleaned is as important as doing it by following the steps in the correct order.

Removing your makeup every night is therefore a necessity for skin care and I am going to explain how to do it the right way with these steps.

Step 1

First, you must remove makeup from your eyes and lips with one of the specific products that exist, since they are the parts of the face that are most exposed to strong makeup on a daily basis. These are mainly oil-based. Being such a sensitive area, greater care is required, so these products provide an extra dose of hydration and clean thoroughly.

It is very important that this is the first step to be able to remove the thickness of eyeliner, eye shadows and mascara. You should apply the product to a cotton pad and then massage gently for 10 seconds but without applying too much pressure to give the product time to dissolve before wiping it off. On the eyelashes, you must pass the cotton from the bottom up in small touches to remove all the mascara. If you use waterproof mascara, use a cleansing oil that is specific for it. Otherwise, you will have to rub hard and your eyelashes will break.

Step 2

Although we often forget them, it is also necessary to remove makeup from our lips! You can use the same product with which you removed your eye makeup or a liquid or cream makeup remover but with another cotton pad. However, you need an oily formula if the lipstick is long-wearing or intensely pigmented. We recommend doing it from the corner of your mouth outward, using circular movements.

Step 3

After this, you should use another completely clean cotton pad with a makeup remover for the rest of the face, giving soft and slow movements, in the form of massages, first passing your makeup remover over the T Zone (forehead, nose and chin), over your cheeks and your neck, even also the neck. This makeup remover will depend on the type of skin each woman has.

If your skin is dry, the most important thing you should do is moisturize, so it is recommended that you use products in the form of cleansing milk or oil, but not soaps. These, for their part, are the most recommended if you have sensitive skin, as they are natural they do not harm it. If your skin is combination, one in the form of a mousse or gel is ideal, although micellar water has the advantage of its soothing action, in addition to being much more hydrating. For its part, if you have oily skin, the oils will harm it, so you should use a product that acts as a dryer and absorbs excess sebum, such as gels.

Step 4

Next, massage the soap or cleanser onto your face and let it sit for 15 seconds, and don’t forget to also apply to your hairline, under your chin (neck), and around your ears. At the end, remove with cold or warm water. Make sure it is a mild soap suitable for your skin type. With it you will remove most of the makeup and dirt that has accumulated.

Step 5

Finally, with a cotton pad soaked in micellar water, wipe it over your entire face, eyes and lips to remove any traces of makeup that may have remained on the skin. It is important that you use a hydrating toner to refresh the skin. With this you will see how now you have been able to remove all the makeup from the foundation, especially the long-lasting ones.

Last but not least, once our skin is clean, it is ready to receive the night treatment products on the face and neck. To do this, it is important that we choose the right ones.

In young people who are not yet over 30, the use of a serum, gel or cream rich in alpha-hydroxy acids will help keep them luminous and free of imperfections such as pimples or blackheads. Above 30, the ideal is to start using a product based on retinoic acid that, in addition to providing luminosity and removing superficial imperfections, will activate collagen production, helping the skin maintain its elasticity. When the first sun spots begin to appear over the years, we must add a specific depigmentation treatment, sometimes accompanying the retinoic acid in the same product or separately.

Don’t forget your moisturizing lip balm and eye contour!

IMPORTANT: If for some reason you don’t have time to remove your makeup, your solution to avoid losing it is to use wipes instead of products, plus they are perfect to carry in your bag all day. But you have to keep in mind if you choose this option that they dry out the skin more, so after using it you should use a moisturizing cream. Also make sure they do not contain perfumes, in order to avoid redness and reactions, and choose the right one for your skin type: there are ones for sensitive, normal and combination skin.

The truth is, I don’t like them as much because sometimes they don’t work as we think since they don’t have the necessary formulation to remove all makeup and they also tend to leave the skin dry or cause pimples to appear when you have oily or combination skin.

Take into account that at night the skin is more susceptible to absorbing all the products we put on it. That is why it is important that the skin is free and fresh!

When you wake up in the morning, you’ll be ready to take on the day with clean, glowing skin. Show it off to the fullest!

After these indicators, you can realize how important it is to go to sleep without your makeup, so if you don’t already do it, it’s time for you to start taking more considerations with your skin with this beauty ritual before going to sleep.
